Quarterfinal 2001

Australia defeated Brazil 3-1

6-8 April, Florianopolis, Brazil

Our boys travelled to Gustavo Kuerten's home town and confronted an exuberant partisan crowd.  Facing the World's best clay courter on his terms was a challenge well and truly met.  Proudly representing Australia once more were team members Pat Rafter, Lleyton Hewitt, Wayne Arthurs and Richard Fromberg. Rafter and Hewitt played singles while a Rafter/Hewitt combination was victorious in the doubles. Young Hewitt was the undisputed hero of this tie. He was undefeated in  9 sets of tennis including 5 tiebreaks. He was broken once on serve.
