Quarterfinal 2003

Australia defeated Sweden 5-0

April 4-6  Malmo, Sweden

back to Come on!

Australia enjoyed a tremendous weekend defeating Sweden for the seventh time in nine Davis Cup meetings. Certainly they believed they could win and even though they did not make it public, believed they would win. However, to do it in the manner that they did against Sweden - regarded as a Davis Cup powerhouse – will be an enormous boost to the team as they look ahead to the semifinals.
Australian Davis Cup captain John Fitzgerald opted to stick with the same team that emphatically swept aside Great Britain in the first round of the 2003 competition in February. World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt,  Mark Philippoussis (current world No. 72), Wayne Arthurs (current world No. 48) and Todd Woodbridge (current doubles world No. 3).
