BEC TALKS ONLY TO WOMAN”S DAY

STOP THE LIES

THE TRUTH ABOUT HER MARRIAGE AND CAREER AS BEC PUTS SOME WILD RUMOURS TO REST

Following recent unfounded rumours surrounding Bec and Lleyton Hewitt, we set the record straight about wild claims of death threats, security spending and talk they’re relocating to Hollywood.

The couple’s manager Rob Aivatoglou has denied reports that, after allegedly receiving death threats, Bec “begged and pleaded” Lleyton not to compete in the Davis Cup in Argentina. “Bec is 100 per cent supportive of Lleyton and his tennis career,” Rob tells. “She would certainly not try to influence any decision he made regarding the Davis Cup.”

Rob explains that Lleyton will make a decision about whether he will play for Australia in Argentina closer to the competition’s start in September, and based on a number of different factors.

A report also surfaced that the couple were so worried about their safety, and that of their baby Mia, they hired a former SAS guard to protect them in London during the Wimbledon Championships – at a cost of $60 000! “This is ridiculous and absolutely not true,” Rob Declares. “Bec and Lleyton, like any high-profile personalities, get security appropriate to their destination and needs when they move around.”

THE JETSET LIFESTYLE

Bec, Lleyton and Mia recently returned to Australia after an eight week tour of Europe, only to pack their bags again to head to LA. However, Bec has laughed off reports they’re setting up home in Hollywood in a bid to re-launch her acting career. Rather, she is more than happy to put work on hold so she can enjoy time in her current role as full-time wife and devoted mother.

“I love being with Lleyton and would miss him so much if I didn’t see him every day,” she says. “I also feel very fortunate that I don’t have to hurry back to work, and I get to spend lots of time with Mia and watch my little girl grow up.”

Manager Rob adds, “They have absolutely no plans to relocate to America. Bec is enjoying being a full-time Mum to Mia and being able to support Lleyton in his tennis.”

ASK BEC…

Dear Bec,

Q: I loved watching Lleyton playing at Wimbledon. It must have been amazing to have been there. Does he have a routine before his games and does he get nervous? Do you and the baby have to keep quiet, the night before to let him get lots of sleep? (Melinda, via email)

A: Hey Melinda,

Yeah I really enjoy the wimbledon tournament. The grounds are beautiful and full of tradition, and there are heaps of excited tennis fans to create a great atmosphere. Lleyton doesn’t really have a special routine before he plays. A lot of players go by a similar schedule. If he’s playing a day match, he’ll arrive at the courts early. He’ll have a warm-up hit for about half an hour, then give himself enough time to have a shower, a bite to eat, tape his ankles and toes, and get a good luck kiss from me. Then it’s off to the locker room to grab his racquets before heading onto the court. When the match is over, he’ll normally warm down by riding the bike and stretching. Then he finishes his commitments by doing a press conference before coming to see me and his little pincess. As for Mia letting him sleep, she’s a pretty good baby and only wakes once a night, if at all.

Q: Hi Bec,

I read that you may be going to work in America as an actress. Wouldn’t you miss Australia? And what about Mia’s grandparents? I bet they’d hate to be away from their cute granddaughter.

A: Hey Angela,

At this stage I’m just happy being a mum and travelling to tournaments with Lleyton, so I’ve got no plans to move to America for work. Lleyton is one of the hardest working people I know, and I love supporting him when he plays his tennis matches. I’m also grateful for the fact that I don’t have to rush back to work, so I get to spend all the time with my daughter. But, having said that. Who knows what’s around the corner!

From Bec Hewitt
Hi Again

I can’t believe how fast this year is going! It’ll be Christmas before we know it. And what a nice christmas it will be. Mia will be one, probably walking, and into the presents big time – or at least the paper. A little different to last year, when she slept through all of Christmas morning.

Our European trip for the year is over. It was fantastic to see Lleyton win the Queen’s tournament in England. I was so proud of him, and it was brilliant that Mia could join me to watch the presentation. The trophy was bigger than her!

So after eight weeks of living out of a suitcase it was nice to unpack, wash and re-pack everything ready to head off to America. And here I am, first stop, LA. It’s good to escape the cold Australian weather.

We were able to take Mia for a swim in the hotel swimming pool. And she got to see Rodea Drive. My mum and I, and of course Mia, browsed around the shops and had lunch there. A nice girls day out.

Oh, I almost forgot. Mia is crawling! She can get herself anywhere. We’ve really got to keep and eye on her. She was on all fours, rocking back and forth for a while. Then one day, she was on her tummy and a drink on the floor caught her eye. Next minute she was off! She’s very proud og herself – and so are we.

Other new tricks she’s learnt including clapping, painting and waving. It’s fantastic being able to communicate with her. Each stage just gets better and better.

Well, I’d better get going, Mia’s awake and ready to play!
